Introduction
.

Aikido is presented as a serie of very elaborate and diversified movements, based on the representation of the circle end the spira.
It uses techniques of immobility end projection, playing on the loss of balance of the attacker's body by changing its line of attack and on its articukation needs;
The two forms of attack, seizure and strikes, are only present for the practise of these techniques.
Not only is Aikido obviously different from other martial arts through technical differences, but also because it is exclusively an art of defence.
In opposition to other martial arts which present offensive and defensive techniques, Aikido does not have any technique of attack, thus revealing its phylosophical and ethical principles.
Aikido stresses on the spiritual developement of the individual through the learning of defensive techniques.
All the aspects of pratical life, whether on the tatamis or in every day life , have to reflect in the life of the practising individual , the ethical dimension of Aikido.
