Shimizu Kenji was born in 1940, he holds an 8th dan from Tokyo Aikikaï. He is one of the last Uchideshi from the l'Aïkikaï Hombu Dojo.

In 1963, he devoted himself to Aïkido and became a discople of the founder Morihei  Ueshiba.

In 1970, he left the Aïkikaï and opened the Tendokan Dojo at Sangenjaya in Tokyo. He often tours Europe especially Germany where he conduct symposium.
