Dobson Terry was born on 1939, in 1960 he became one of the first Americans to live for several years among the Uchideshi at the Tokyo Aikikaï.

In1970, he went back to San Fransisco, U.S.A and organized there numerous training courses. Later, he settled on East Coast in Vermont.
